I saw 2friends playing precision yesternight, they bid a strange auction as below:
1 1NT
2 2
2 4

1NT=8~10Hcps/balanced
2=no major suit
2=5cards+ and hint 4cards+

what does this 4 show?

thanks

Seems like it's got to show a heart fit. My guess would be agreeing hearts with a source of tricks in diamonds, something like:

xx
xxx
AKQxx
xxx

Likely 3 would agree hearts, but not show the side source of tricks. Bidding 3 should show diamond values, but doesn't necessarily set hearts as trump.

Well, its a bit strange to bid 1N and not 2D (or whatever shows diamonds) with that hand....
On the other hand this sequence is just strange.

The Hand I would expect is:
xx Kxx AKxx xxxx

Actually its probably equally likely that this player messed up his first 2 bids and is actually 4414 :)
