Since we opened 1♣ we must be playing a weak notrump, in which case 2♠ shows this range and is perfect.

Obviously opening 1♣ if playing a strong notrump would be dumb.

Why did I not open this 1NT?... I will assume we are playing weak NT then, which means that 2♠ shows exactly this hand: 15-17 or 11-14 which can be upgraded to 15-17 and ♠ support.

We should always assume 2/1 unless otherwise stated, because:

- If the original poster didn't bother to state his system, that means that he thinks it's obvious what he's playing. The only people who think this are 2/1 players.

Playing a weak NT context I still bid 3 Spade with this hand, what else?
2 ♠ shows more or less Oles example or some 4225 hand with the wrong honour location to call it a weak NT.

It's probably not an opener for someone playing a weak notrump. Make it a little better and it's a 2♠ bid, which they call 15-17 based on distribution. WTP?

1♣ then 2♠ wtp? OK... This is only 14, but don't we all upgrade 14s to a 15-17 1NT? :)
