you are a passed hand
partner overcalls LHO's 1C opening with 1H, RHO passes
you hold
Qx KTxx Jxx T9xx
do you raise?
if you do, what do you raise?
i am really not sure what is the best action here so some reasons/analysis will be very helpful thanks
on the one hand you have 4 card support
on the other hand you have minimal and soft values, with little/no shape
does it make a difference whether you are a passed hand or no?
additional info:
overcalling style is generally sound at these colours (you can expect 10 hcp)
if you have any special raising methods please do tell
(i play 3H here is 0-6, 4cH and 3D as a mixed raise)

The most obvious reason why pass is very bad is that opps will have an easier auction and we will have a harder auction if we pass. Another reason is that if I pass, partner will have no idea what's going on from now on in the bidding or in defence. I would like to help my partner.
As a general rule, try to find any excuse to raise partner, especially with 4 card support.
Anyway I would bid 2♥. I would need a little more for 3♦ and the ♠Q in hearts for 3♥.

I think 2♥ is enough vulnerable. 3♥ if nonvul.
As a passed hand you have almost enough to a 2♣ (or 3♣) constructive raise but not quite.
A psychic 1♠ could also work. Anything is better than pass.

However I would never bid anything other than 2H.

Raise.
Since RHO passed, there is no big need to bid more than 2H.
With kind regards

Imagine that you're opener with a 4225 17-count. Which raise would you like to hear?

We certainly have a different idea of normal here.
