(1) - X - (whatever) - 2
(p) - 5 (Exclusion) - (p) - 5 (1 KC)
(p) - 6

Classic hand for exclusion...and you get to stop in 5 opp no aces, which even at that ought to have some play, esp. if partner takes a 2 free bid over a 2 call by S

i am a devout deciple of opening 1S with 5-5 in the blacks ---but this is my exception if there ever was one.

Whatever happens after that, we will probably arrive at the cheap grand sac ....and if they bid 7, I will probably lead the diamond ace and let them make it

So:
- You double, partner bids diamonds, and you jump in hearts, showing hearts.
- You double, partner bids hearts, and you jump in diamonds, showing shortage.

Do you think there might be the merest hint of inconsistency between your auctions?
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

For me,

(1) - X -
2 - 2 -
3 - 3 -
3 - 5 -
5 - 6

3 = promises a little something (I play cheapest bid = artificial very weak after the takeout double and cuebid).
3 = sets trumps, if east doesn't know what trumps should be he cuebids again.
5 = exclusion keycard
