I find the format of the timestamps hard to read. The 'Today' and 'Yesterday' ones are fine, but when the time is separated from the date by a forward slash the numbers seem to run into each other (2010-Sep-27/11:18). Maybe a space instead of the slash, or some other way to make them more readable. I forget how they used to be displayed.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

What was wrong with the previous version?

I had to change the name of my personna to a previous screen name in order to access this version. That OK, people have been telling me for years that I need a significant personna adjustment. Crawling on my belly ain't so bad. Just don't step on me.

Quite regardless of the layout, I find the extra space between lines in the content of posts to be incredibly annoying to read.

Also, I've just discovered that about half of every page the server sends consists of inline CSS. Wow, what an incredible waste of bandwidth. Everyone has a browser cache nowadays, you know.

The CSS data is no longer inline. Sorry.

I just quoted the above text in another post.

The added text "said:" to the quote header is annoying when the quote is not something that someone has said.

It would be better for more flexibility here.

Because voting is not yet enabled.

You can now make up to 10 positive votes for any post each day. There are no plans to enable negative votes at the moment. My first vote (and the forum's first!) goes to the Bridge Personality one. :)

More to come as we get more familiar with the new look.

None of the hand diagrams have the vulnerability shown it seems.

Apparently, so I am told in another thread, the state of the vulnerability is shown by the NSEW being red or white. I didn't find it obvious - was expecting it to be shown in a similar manner to problems in books - i.e. say it in writing - and, indeed, the way we used to do it in these forums.

I think negative votes would be a good thing for the forum. It could seriously cut down on flames when the flamers realize it's not just one person who dislikes their posts.

Plus without negatives the "karma" system becomes a simple popularity contest.

In unrelated news, it would be nicer if in the mobile "New content" section the thread creator would also appear. It takes almost a minute to load the thread together with the hand etc, I'd like to remember which thread is which.

Can you explain how this voting works? I can't seem to find the facility anywhere, and it's not mentioned in the help file.

It seems to me that negative votes will just provide an anonymous way to "LOL" people. Don't we already have more than enough of that?

Personally, I don't have a problem with bad or nonsensical postings. If it's from someone who always posts nonsense, I wouldn't have read it anyway. If it's from someone who's usually sensible, then someone else will point out what's wrong with it, and the original poster will either defend their views of concede that they were wrong. That is, we have a conversation.

If we have negative votes, we'll get this:
- Poster A posts an opinion
- Widely respected Poster B disagrees
- An invisible horde of sycophants award negative votes to Poster A
- Poster A feels stupid and stops posting, or (even worse) he starts trying to post views that he thinks the majority will agree with, instead of telling us what he actually thinks.

I think that would be bad.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

There are two buttons in the bottom right corner of each post
- one green with a plus sign on it (if you mouse over it the explanation "vote this post up" appears)
- one red with a minus sign ("vote this post down")
Immediately next to them is a "reputation" counter. At the moment reputation is 0 for almost all posts, since the feature is brand new.

Thanks for this. Yet another Firefox problem for me - I don't have the buttons. I can see them if I go over to Safari, which it seems is what I'll have to do when reading the forums.
