NS pairs played in part score, game and slam, in four different strains. Yuck!
All 9 auctions were the same through 3♦. To my surprise, only 4 Souths chose to show their 3 hearts. North's 3♠ bid, also to my surprise, is explained as 4+D; 4+H; 4+S; 11-12 total points. It seemed clear that the 4+S part wasn't right, but that should be fixed.
4♥ is explained as the infamous Help Suit Slam Try. I confess, I didn't read the description before making the bid. Silly me, I bid game wanting to play there. I thought it would be better to play the Moysian where the 3-card holding was in the same hand as the club singleton, to avoid losing control of the hand. GIB decided otherwise. Do I need to jump to 4♥ over 3♦ in order to play there? I hadn't yet given up on 3N when I had to make that decision. I guess I should bid 5♦ once I can't play 4♥, but I didn't see it at the time.
Another player bid 4♦ over 3♠. This is also explained as a Help Suit Slam Try. I bet she didn't mean it way way either
One South found the winning sequence. He signed off in 3N over 3♠ and GIB corrected to 4♥. I wish I had thought of that!
