The auction:
WEST NORTH EAST SOUTH
Pass 1 Pass 2NT
Pass 3 Pass 4
Pass 4NT Pass 5
Pass 5 Pass Pass
Pass

Three hearts was singleton/void in hearts.
Four hearts was first round control in hearts, although GIB shows it to be a help-suit slam try.
Not sure how that applies opposite a singleton/void.
GIBs hand was:
KQJT4 6 Q63 K974
Naturally we were off the Ace of clubs and Ace of diamonds (I denied them already, so why bid 4NT)
and went down 1 (missing King of diamonds too).

Yes, the Help Suit Slam Try should be high on the developers' list of GIB improvements.

But, you ran amok on this auction. You have a crystal-clear 2 bid over 1, so the simple auction goes 1-2-2-4. Everyone is happy until you go down one because the opponents get a diamond ruff in addition to the three tricks you told us about. (Yes, you were down two.)

I try to simplify the auctions for GIB, because he gets off in the weeds so much (especially with slam auctions). Also, trying to follow the rule of fast arrival, since it's a timed event and get the auction over with as quickly as possible.

There is no need to modify the bidding due to the time limit. You are given 25 minutes and, as you can see from myhands, you finished this 8-hand tournament in 15 minutes and the one the following night in only 13 minutes. Just bid normally. You cannot complain about your partner's bidding if you're screwing around on your side of the table.
