Frances Hinden & Graham Osborne
Chris Jagger & Ian Pagan
Jeffrey Allerton & Tom Townsend
Congratulations to them all, but especially to Frances and Jeffrey who make such a contribution to these forums. They'll be given a warm Scottish welcome next March and will hopefully remember to go easy on the team that I'm captaining!

If you expect them to go easy on anyone, I think you'll be whistling in the wind!
Well done to all of them!

With this said and done, what really caught my eye were the word's "warm Scottish welcome".
I have grandparents who come from Ayrshire...
I always associated this side of the family with word's like "dour", "forbidding", and "soused"...

BTW I think Hrothgar's word should be 'scoused' not 'soused' as in meaning a person from Liverpool.

Nope, I meant soused, as in pickled to the gills

I thought you both meant the same thing.
Congratulations Frances and Jeffrey!

Yes, certainly an excellent year all-round with the Gold Cup win, Premier League runner-up, bronze medal in Poland, winning the Young Chelsea knockout and coming third in the Lederer Trophy, for some of the team.

Lol. But yes, it's generally regarded as the most prestigious event on the calendar. It's British rather than English, and until the quarter-finals matches are 48 boards and played privately.
