I have seen weak takeout doubles by GIB, but this is record :)
Edit: I did not notice, that this has been already reported.

GIB ran simulations, and found that doubling would work out better than passing. In many cases where NS can do better by playing, South doesn't have a hand that can reopen or East raises the preempt and shuts South out.

And it was right in this case, since you can make 3NT, but you wouldn't have been able to bid if North had passed. You just have to duck a at trick 2, and you get 4, 4, 1. Even if West has the A, your 10 may be a stopper or you can eventually get a trick, so this is the right play.

You can't make 3nt with -lead
This is double-dummy play.
If W has AQxxxxx or AJxxxxx in diamonds, you lose a heart, 2 diamonds and 2 spades.
Of course I could have passed and get 500, but I was sure that 3nt would make opposite normal takeout double.

So change the description to just takeout double- can be very weak if possible set a minimum HCP/TP that below GIB will not make a double.
