Without a jack it'd be a real close decision. Without the HQ I'd be passing. As it is, not much to think about.

Before I took 30 years off from playing (started up again in late 2007), I would've considered this a max 1st seat vul weak 2. The JS = 0, 1 1/2 QT, no stiff (requiring 2 QT to open one level). It has advantages as a 2-level preempt at these colors.

Nowdays, with people opening worse 6-card hands at the one level, I thought I'd ask. I'm betting that most folks now would open virtually any decent 6-card M with a good 10 HCP and a stiff at the one level regardless of defensive values: Is this the norm?

EDIT: Should openers like the JS much better than I do? Does that elevate me to 2 QT? More coffee....
