Grats !
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

What's the conventional wisdom of the platinum pairs vs the blues?

One better, one worse or about the same?

As a non-top player, I would think platinum > blue ribbon > 3-day life master pairs. In terms of qualifiers platinum > 3-day life master > blue ribbons, but the concurrent 0-5000 mini-blues helps the starting field stay stronger in the blue ribbons then in the life master pairs.

However all are super prestigious and are real events with no other more important event going on (unlike, say the 2-day pairs that starts day 2 of the Spingold or the NA Swiss that is concurrent with the Reisinger. That said, I'm still impressed with anyone who wins these events too!).

I have played all 3 multiple times and the platinum pairs is definitely the hardest. Blues vs Life Master Pairs depends on the size of the field. In general, the Blues will be harder in terms of your average opponent, but since the LMP happens in the summer, the field tends to be larger so it's unclear which is harder to win. The Platinum Pairs starts with a very small field (so small that the final is 1 large section) and is definitely the hardest pair game on the ACBL calendar.

The 3-day LM Pairs has a 0-5000 counterpart running at the same time (like the BRPs). It also has a 0-1500 too, btw.

Yes, Platinum pairs is harder. Not sure if that automatically means "most prestigious" but tbh, I forgot about it. It's such a new event. For my whole life and before, the blue ribs was the premier pair event. Did not mean to mislead.

I am deeply embarrassed that I missed this until now. Congrats to both of you.
