Playing 1N forcing, 1S-1N, 2H is such a cramped auction. Does anyone think...
2S-preference with possibly 2S/4H on a hand that would like to accept a game try
2N-invitational with possibly 4 hearts
3H-like 5 hearts and constructive
4H-5 hearts and invitational strength (an overbid then)
would work out better than putting so much through a 3H raise? 3H is so wide-ranging. One can deny 4 hearts and then correct later.

No. I think it would help you get to the wrong denomination more often than it would help you reach the right level when you have a heart fit.

I think you would be better off employing transfers over 1NT to be honest. You solve the same sorts of issues but with a lower cost elsewhere in the system.

I am experimenting with transfers by opener now, in fact. It's still not too much fun when opener is 5332 of course. But it does make a lot of rebid problems easier, giving Gazilli-like options for how to show all the two-suiters.
It's one of several auctions where I am trying transfers by opener (others include after 1H-1S, using 2C=diamonds and 2D=clubs).
