Frances and jallerton won the English premier league so I nominate them together if possible.

Fred was first in a national Swiss, second in the Vanderbilt, and 2nd in the us team trials. He can be nominated for whichever is deemed the best (for my money that is 2nd in the Vanderbilt)

Obviously I should not count as a newcomer lol. I should not be under consideration for any award other than best looking unless there is some really awesome post I made at some point that I don't remember.

Ok looked back, I like the hanp post quoted in this thread #49 for post of the year, Fred for outside achievement, Philking for newcomer.

Wait a second. Justin won the platinum pairs lol. I nominate that for outside achievement.

One other point from your summary. Statto was nominated as Best Newcomer last year so I would not think he is eligible in 2012. Is there a defined cut-off point for this category?

In theory, a poster's first post should have occurred on or after January 1, 2012 to be eligible; if somebody was REALLY REALLY close though and made their first post in late December or something, I don't object to including them. This is about recognizing excellence, not rigid adherence to arbitrary rules. As I said, I haven't had time to vet the nominations yet, so there might be some that aren't strictly eligible.

I've been tempted to nominate Lurpoa for a special "Most Big-Hearted Poster". Or maybe it should be "Most Heart-Broken Poster" for all the times I've edited hearts out of her posts before approving them. :)

Lurpoa's posts contain a few harmless . Posts of some other nominees are less aesthetically pleasing but much more offensive :(

I would like to nominate helene_t for most helpful poster.

I don't think this is funny.

Blessing !

You certainly will not get any hearts for this.
In Spain we have "swords": that is what we give you for this blessing post.

Too bad I cannot report you on this: the great Inquisitor took that away from me.

The same reason I also edit out all the blank lines you put in your posts: they're unnecessary and make the posts harder to read. This is the last word on the subject. I've told you in private that I've held off on banning you from the forum, and Inquiry has already given up on dealing with you. If you continue to argue about this, I will ban you.

  • Off-topic: moderators seem to allow gratuitously offensive posts. Surely, then, It is fair to allow posts with harmless embellishments. Flashing emoticons are more annoying than a few suit symbols but I wouldn't ask that the former be banned. And as for banning those who argue .... :(
  • On-topic: and on a more cheerful note, I second Barmar's nomination of Lurpoa for Most Big-Hearted Poster :)

Overall, my 2nd favorite poster (2nd to Justin Lall) is olegru. I don't know if Olegru
made any classic posts in 2012, but this one from 2009 was typical of his standards:

As in we, the BBF community. Not sure how this can be seen as sinister.
