N/S play a strong club system so opening 1M bids are 10-15, opening 2M are 4-10 but usually 8 LTC - not 7.

I dislike 3 because this will (and did) not work well over competion.
I do not know whether 3 shows this hand over 3 . With my partner I would surely expect a little more then just a solid suit. So maybe I should have voted here too.
I really dislike 5 . You need a heart singleton and the ace of diamonds besides solid spades- or solid spades and the ace of diamonds and the King of hearts... Maybe south thought that 3 promised such a hand. In that case I should not have voted for 5 but for 3 .

I like 6. Partner asked a quetion, I have an easy answer.
Kind Regards

Roland

I don't understand 5, 5 is suposed to mean lack of heart control 5 should have heart control.

Even then jumping to 5 is not really sound, lacking 4 keycards (K AK A) he is aiming for partner to have 3 of them wich means almost for sure no club wastage, a suit nobody has bid.

Regarding north I don't have a clue of the differentces between 3, 4 and pass previous round, if in GF sequence I think 4 as fast arrival would had worked out very well, but that needs some agreements.

Agreeing Fluffy and Codo - adding:
1-2-3-4
Pass-Pass-4-All Pass

1-2-3-Pass
3-Pass-4- All Pass
are ways to get there.

The unfortunate truth: we need partner's control to be K, singleton or void, and not the A. That means we're missing the A. Ugh. The 5/ control ask doesn't make that distinction.

What question did partner ask? I think he asked "do you have a good hand for your previous bidding?" and I think the easy answer is "no, I have a 10-count with no diamond help and no club control and no shortness".

Looking at the South hand, I guessed he asked for a heart control, nothing else makes sense- at least not to me.

Wrong Forum imo.

I think this hand is tuffer than it looks it is. Perhaps you should have posted this in expert forums. I know experts can reply here as well, but you would definetely get more expert attention and replies there imo.

In my prefered system, i think South should start with 4 over 2, showing 4 card spades and 5+ and at least game values. I am not sure if that would have kept us from being in slam though, i doubt it.

Note that, in most expert pdships, if 3 cue is only limit or better, it doesn't even set a forcing pass incase East raises the bar before pd.
