But toward the end there was a key play where there may or may not have been holding in the endzone. The announcer explained that you can't expect a ref to call a holding penalty late in the game. There are a lot of things in life I don't understand. Does this mean it is ok for me to bid on my partner's hesitations on the last couple of boards?

It is weird and probably wrong, but undeniable fact that refs are slower to call pass interference type penalties in the playoffs, and slower still near the end of a playoff game. Coaches know it, DBs know it, receivers know it. All of which makes the fade an even worse call. As I understand, this play was called at the line by Kaepernick - a mistake of inexperience.
In fact, the play calling on that whole last sequence was bad. You are running roughshod over them up and down the field, they can't stop it, you reach first and goal and call .. four straight passes?
edit: I guess first down was a rush, so only three straight passes. Still ...

Before internet age you had a suspicion there are lots of "not-so-smart" people on the planet. Now you even know their names.

At least he'll earn more than Marcus Lattimore.
As for never running, the problem is you'd have to throw out a good chunk of your passing playbook as well, lots of good stuff comes from play action and some screen plays wouldn't work well anymore either. It's pretty clear though that teams have not hit the optimal ratio, which I would guess to be around 80-20.
