I like 3♠ better than 4♠ because after the A and K, there really isn't much there, is there?

Thanks,
Sorry but I may have read the vulnerability wrong here. Does this mean 1st/3rd seat are vulnerable, or 2nd/4th seat are vulnerable? I based my choice on 2nd seat vulnerable.

It means WE (2nd & 4th) are not vulnerable and THEY (1st & 3rd) are vulnerable.

Our posts agree in our minority position. But, I don't remember partner ever bidding a successful 3NT over my opening 3S bid, and if she did she would probably not be expecting spade tricks which she might not be able to reach to cash.

But with a random CHO, no decent methods, and playing to maximize results for the current hand, 4♠.
I can even be specific about 'decent methods' for this case: You have decent methods for this purpose if you have a way of bidding RKCB in spades after partner shows 15-17 balanced.

PASS
rho passed so they average around 5.5 hcp we have 7 that means there
are 27.5 hcp left for the other two and on average at around 14 each with
partners 14 getting a large 60% positional advantage means this hand
has a very strong chance of our side making game (ON AVERAGE).
It would seem like a poor idea to mess around with precious bidding space
when we might need it all to arrive at not only the right level but proper
strain. BTW the opps on average rate at most a part score so preemption here
messes with our bidding and doesn't hurt the opps much at all since they are
not going to sacrifice anyway.

Probably rho had an max 8 points than remaining 25 : with 15 opposite we can consider to continue (and also partner) to bid.
