If partner responds 1N, I am not looking for a perfecto for 4♠ and will rebid 2♦. Therefore I will open my long suit.

Rebid problem after 1♠ response? Nope. My system has 4♠ showing exactly this type of hand But without that agreement I would still force to game opposite 1♠ response.

At MPs: 4♦. Seems more pragmatic than 1♠.

I would also open 1♦ and bid 3♦ now. They have at least 9 card ♥ fit. W probably has 5-6 ♣+4♥, spades won't behave friendly even if we find a 5-3 spade fit. I think we already decided this route by opening 1♦ and I will stick with the plan, especially when pd denied a 4 card M, and LHO is likely to be short in spades.

True we might or might not have buried spades. While I'm rebidding 3♦ like Timo I'm competing to 3♠ if they compete in hearts. So spades may live again and we are playing a sensible
In fairness, if I opened 1♠ and partner bid 1N it's quite likely I'll end playing a crappy 5-2 ♠ fit. Worse yet if partner bids 2♥ over 2♦ I'm royally screwed.
The happy path after 1♦ is 1♥-1♠-anything-2♠ which describes this hand perfectly.

Why aren't we bidding 3♦? Having limited our values via 1♠-1N-[2di], 3♦ now has to be extra shape, not extra values. Seems to resemble the hand I'm holding.
