Easy pass.

Even if pd has a side ace, which may not be the case at all, and you are in danger at 5 level, and even if he does we are not home yet. He is probably short in spades. You can give AK if pd has A, you can give 2 diamonds if he has A, or even if you do not have 2 quick losers probably we still will have to do some work with spades. Of course slam can make but I believe pass is by far the best action if your preempts are not JEC or Roth/Stone preempts.

Sorry, truly a typo. We're 5422. Edited the OP.

Pass. I don't see partner with more than one card outside. Many hands with an ace would open 1.

I'd bid. With so many hearts its likely partner has seven rather than eight, for which he'd need an outside card (or really extreme shape). This card could be club king (in which case we need some luck to make five) but more likely its an ace.

Trying for slam is crazy. Even if partner does have a side ace and a maximum, slam might still be cold off.

I'm also pretty excited about the prospect of defending 4Sx!

Playing my normal methods, I have 5 available as a CAB.
If I have this toy available, I will use it. Otherwise, I am going to pass.

Hi,

first it comes down to style and how well you have defined a preempt.

We promise in this position and with this vul. 6 loosers (LTC) or better, better is possible,
you dont preempt beyond game, we prefer also to have our values in the long suit.

Give him KQJxxxx, than he needs 1 out side control to get to the req. LTC number, and it has
quite likely to be a Ace or a King, if he has 8 hearts, he needs nothing.

On the other hand, I have 4-5 cards to cover partners looser, so I am passing.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Slam prospects are exceedingly poor and there is no reasonable way to determine if opener has the right hand for slam. Once that decision is made we can start hoping lho has read all of the expert articles concerning the automatic acceptance of the "transfer" to 4s:))))) but try and keep the drool to a minimum.

Partner's hand is ridiculous but I was still wondering what you guys would do. Thanks.
