PASS

Flaws everywhere.
The opponents have opened the bidding in our longest and strongest suit.
The doubleton spade means using x here is just asking for trouble.
We are well short of the power needed for a 1n overcall (though our hand is balanaced).
The heart suit has neither the length nor the strength needed to make it a good bid.

The other 3 options listed all have chances of working on any given hand.
pass = 9 1n = 6 x = 5 1h = 4

"I have an opening hand. I have to bid."

I've actually heard people say this. Personally, if I don't have something to say — and in the systems I play, I don't with this hand when RHO opens 1 — I pass.

I Pass without much thought; I don't think is too hard. The only bid that makes sense would be 1 but on this suit that's just too 'out there'.

Unless you are an eccentric or a fool,you should pass.. I see no interest in this hand at all.
Why was it submitted(?!).....Or am I missing something(?)

Probably, OP had a disagreement with a partner. Quite possibly, said partner is in the group blackshoe mentioned.

What was bid? 1 is nutzo but maybe ok at mp's but double is leading with your chin and I don't believe pass is needing a poll.

Anyone know the highest number of votes a poll here has ever achieved before unanimity is lost? 50 seems a pretty good attempt at the record...
