Yesterday we had a ruling with a weighted score in a match. The adjustment was to 2.5 IMPs to our side, and this put the match result at a 10.5 IMPs win which needed to be converted to VPS. The scale in this league is something like 6-10 converts to 12-8 and 11-15 converts to 13-7. How is the match scored? And should the two weighting be converted to VPS separately and then the weighted average of the VPS taken, so the final match score could, for example, be 12.3-7.7?, with, say, 30% of 13-7 and 70% of 12-8

The White Book says:

Quote

Rounding at the end of a calculation is to be done as necessary to the nearest unit of scoring (see §8.12.3), with exact halves rounded away from average.

So you won the board by 3 IMPs, the match by 11 IMPs and this gives you 13 VPs.

I've heard the idea of weighting VPs discussed on a few occasions though I don't know of anywhere that has regulations allowing or requiring that.
