There is a problem with players not paying sufficient attention and not realising it is their turn to bid and result in wasting time

BBO indicates whose turn it is to play by highlighting their name Bar in Yellow.

Stronger measures are needed to keep players on the ball

BBO could automatically time each player through out the day to detect time wasting and report so directors will be able to talk to offenders and maybe penalise

If timing of players was performed then BBO could automatically prompt an offending player in the chat field. there would be more than one clock per table. (Chess clocks players)
Forexample
Cooper1000 100 seconds spent on this bid please hurry or penalties may apply
Cooper1000 100 seconds spent on this trick, please hurry or penalties may apply

Another possibility is flashing their name bar, and if it is dummy that we are waiting on, fields for both dummy and declarer should flash

BBO may be able to tell if a player is having technical problems and automatically call the director

Any wasted time saved would be valuable

Thankyou for BBO for doing a great job

The tool that TDs use to see the history of a table was recently enhanced to include the total time that each player took.

Hopefully that should help stop TDs booting the wrong player, often the slow player plays just as the TD arrives at the table and the following player gets booted if they take more than 3 seconds.
