First in hand, Match-point Pairs, with nobody Vulnerable. Here is your hand AQ9654, 9, JT73, QJ. Do you open this hand 2, or do you choose 1?

Depends on what you have agreed with your partner, with the weak 2s I play which can be zero points, this is a 1 opener, if you play 6-10, 2 is fine.

I have partnerships where this is a 1 bid and partnerships where this is a 2 bid.

I open 1 1 1.... 2 is weak. Partner need good hand (<14) to use Qgust 2NT over weak two bid. But not so good hand (11/12/13) can make game opposite this 1 opener. If partner at margin for two over one respond, then game 50/50 with any cards?

This hand is marginal, if the clubs were Kx rather than QJ I'd agree, but I'm not convinced this is a full on 10 count.

And partner can have a 15 count with 4 spades that can't make 3 on normal breaks (KJxx, KQJ, Qxxx, Kx), it's all about the side suit fits

I bid Ogust on Axx Axx Kxxxxx x. Surely KQxxxx xx Qx xxx is a weak 2? Okay - you're not going to find the game there, but KQxxxx Kx xx xxx?

NV at MPs this is way out of range of 2S IMO - this is a perfect situation to be aggressive. My choice would be between 1S and 3S, and it would depend on what partner expects.

I'd open 1. Seven losers and an easy second bid of 2 if partner does anything other than support.

First choice 2. Second choice 3. I would only consider 1 in a limited system like Precision.

Happy New Year everyone!
