Strange that GIB could not find an opening bid on this (Advanced robot)

At the other extreme, yesterday an advanced Gib failed to open non-vulnerable on something like:

I don't know the exact definition of preempting; it differs from the older version of GIB since in 2017 BBO released an update and said "Preempts have been redefined to be much more in line with what most bridge players would expect.".

But it seems this isn't quite accurate and they also introduced gaps between preempts and opening bids. (Opens your hand 1♠ with a point more, 3♠ with a jack less.)

And in this case, an advanced robot doesn't help at all, since robots never simulate the opening bid (which is a good thing; it would be a disaster if it tried to predict the entire auction based on a small set of simulations).

What was the logic. Too weak for 1 and too strong for 2 or 3 (even 4) Pass

Completely off-topic I know, but I'm amazed it took me my whole life minus a few weeks to learn that if you hit the post / crossbar, you're not allowed to kick in the rebound yourself (only other players can). The person taking the penalty can't touch it again until someone else (including the keeper) does.

Wow, sounds like something from Bridge law ?
A quick google says nothing about that, but until 1924, a corner-kick was not allowed to go straight into the goal.
And it's amusing that in 1863 the state of the art was that:
- no crossbar was used and the goal was not specific to a limited height.
- if a player did catch a high ball, he was rewarded a free kick (love this one)
- if the ball crossed the sideline, the player that first got the ball was rewarded the throw-in.
