Your partner Doubles his RHO's (Declarer) opening bid of (a pre-emptive 3 clubs. What would expect to see in your partner's hand?

If you are playing (3x) X as take out I expect a strong hand with support for the other suits, invitational + , or a single suit too strong to bid at the 3or4 level
"And no matter what methods you play, it is essential, for anyone aspiring to learn to be a good player, to learn the importance of bidding shape properly." MikeH

4 level may not be available for some suits, whether you play 4 as LM might also influence whether you can have 5/5M intending ELC

A hand similar to a hand, that would make a T/O of a 1C opening.
With kind regards

Thanks . . . I took it as a hand with opening points 0, 1 or max of 2 small clubs and the other suits.

Reasonable, the more you stray from this, the bigger hand you need (what are you going to do with a balanced 27 with 3 clubs ?)

The auction you need to discuss is 3-X-P-3/4-P-3/4 as to whether this can just be / and not show extra values.

Except with a couple of hand types removed. Most big balanced hands that would have doubled and then bid NT over 1 will overcall 3NT; and the GOSH (good one-suited hand) hand type just bids the suit at an appropriate level, since after a preempt, "X then bid" shows a good flexible hand rather than a one-suiter.
