I'd like to bid, but what?

Do you include ELC in you X or bid 3 as per @awm in the previous 'sohl' post showing 2 places to play?

I think you are misunderstanding what I posted -- if partner doubles, I play a 2 ADVANCE as two places to play. The direct 3 is something else (for me, stopper ask or strong with a minor).

Anyway, on this hand I would bid 2NT. This is right on values and almost right on shape (I'd like to have one more club and one less red card, but it's not like partner will be signing off in clubs here).

Not sure I do understand as 2 isn't available here

Sorry, I meant 3. To clarify:

(2)-3 is a stopper ask or a variety of strong one-suiters
(2)-X-(Pass)-3 is two places to play (notrump not being one of them)

With this hand I'm in direct seat, so my options are double (flawed with singleton club, but I suppose I can correct clubs to diamonds to show "extras in a flexible hand") or 2NT (flawed with a singleton club, but this is unlikely to cost) or 3 (ugly, as it's both heavy on values and most likely to lose a 4-4 heart fit and/or play in a 5-1 fit). From these I think 2NT is a standout.

Thanks got it now - looks like a good call which may get raised to 3N

Does anyone have any views on a reverse lebensohl?

After 2-(X)
2N 8/9+ - 3 GF
and
2N 8/9+ - 3
3 &

or even a Gucci reverse lebensohl if such a thing exists?
2N 8/9+ - 3 preference
