#1 I prefer 4D to 3D.
4D is a splinter, what the meaning of 3D is, is anybodies guess.
#2 After Keycard, and 2 Aces, ..., you should have a 6-3 fit, i.e.
the Queen will drop in 50% of the cases, but you still have
a spade looser to take care of.
Remember, that p is a passed hand, 2KC translate to 8HCP, he has
at most 11, this may be the Q of trumps, it maybe the ...
Hence go low, 6C.
With kind regards

We tell him, that we dont need diamonds values, any other values are great.
It also makes clear, that we play clubs.
3D may or may not be looking for 3NT.

I have shown a strong hand with the black suits, if partner bids 3nt (aka ♦ control) I will continue with a ♥ cue

P hopefully does not pass your 4H bid.
But as long as you are on the same page as p, all is fine.

If this is N/B, I also like the 3♣ natural, but then the rest is demential. It's important they learn how to decide which strain to play, including NT after a minor fit, Keycard asking can come much later when they already know how to recognise when they have a good chance of slam.
If this is I/A, I would prefer 3♣ to be an artificial game force, probing either naturally or in a structured way for 3 card hearts support or some other indication of direction.

Here's the full hand, your auction may be different as I expect some will open in 1st seat.
I didn't play it, I was sent the hand from one of the several pairs who fell into the 3nt abyss.

Note that the grand depends upon a 2-2 club split, which is anti-percentage. Way back in the day, I was told that you need to be about 75% sure to elevate a slam to grand.
