I like to use the "Start a Table with Partner" option, but we (my partner and I) would prefer to be directed to a "partners only" table - i.e. a table where players come AND go as partners (i.e come using STP and leave when either partner leaves). It does mean inventing a new category of table, and probably means a longer wait time when switching opponents, but playing against a set partnership is worth the wait.

I always thought it should be the basis of casual play, the idea of sitting down with anyone (except a robot) and more or less instantly playing meaningful bridge is ridiculous.

I'm not so sure about that - I do it all the time - but I think my variant has merit.

We probably have different ideas about what is bridge :)
No problems with that.
I never do it - either a partner I know or a robot that at least is predictable.
