I open 1♣ and partnerGIB replies 1NT. The explanation is "2-5C; 2-5D; 2-3H; 2-3S; 6-10HCP, 7+ total points". Would GIB make this response with 5 or either minor? Is there a subset of the 6-10HCP range where GIB bids 1NT with 3343 but another range where he'd bid 1♦? Thanks!

If you put a poll up for what to bid with say KJx Qx JTxxx QTx, I'd say you'd get a reasonable number of votes for 1N.
Responding 1D with 3343 would be rare, xxx xxx AQxx xxx would for sure. 3334 shapes are also possible for some.

When I reply 1NT to 1♣, I am exactly 3334 almost all the time. I might bypass four small in ♦♥♠. I know, it's very Goren of me. But my question here is "what does GIB actually do", not "what is common practice among good players", as I want to know whether GIB's actual bidding logic matches the description given.
