The explanation given for 4 is: 4+C; 4+D; 11-21 HCP; 3-card clubs; 12-22 total points.

First, the "3-card clubs" clearly doesn't belong there if "4+C" does. Second, is none of the high end of 12-22 ruled out by the pass of 3? Third, don't we open 1 with 4-4 in minors? If so, doesn't "4+C; 4+D" really mean "5+C; 4+D"?

I've never understood that "3-card clubs" thing. It appears in a bunch of explanations.
