We used to hold a 24-hour marathon at the Young Chelsea every 18 months, with big prize money and players from all over Europe. I played in it five times and directed it three times. The standard format was 56 pairs in an all-play all movement of 165 boards, half-hour breaks between sessions. It was very popular and over-subscribed, but gradually interest waned (perhaps as everyone got older, and 24 hour bridge on the internet became available), until the last one (which was won by gnasher and his partner) only attracted 18 pairs, and we've decided to wait until there seems to be sufficient interest before holding another one.

Hopefully your event will be able to re-awaken some of that interest and attract some of the players who used to enjoy the YC one. In particular there was a group of Swedes who regularly flew over to London for the weekend. Good luck!

Yes. The YC one had five sessions of over four hours each, with a break of about half an hour between each. 24 hours from start to finish.

I used to find 5am was the worst time. Then it all got a bit better (or perhaps I stopped noticing how bad it was).

No that makes sense Gordon. I had similar experiences.

How do you plan to find out though? I would love to have another marathon, and there might be lots of other members who feel the same.

It was the soup that did it.

I'm sure Gordon will be scanning the results list of the Nürnberg tournament for YC members. ;)

More details about the Nuremberg tournament:

Entry: € 50 per pair (or triple if you must)

100% of entry fees will be prize money.
Food and drinks are extra (coffee continuously available of course). Hot food available at dinner and midnight break, we'll be thinking about what will be there at say the 5 AM breakpoint. Perhaps someone can PM me to say how the YC one was organized that will help :)

Your circadian rhythm is still running whether you sleep or not. The signals to wake up will probably be starting around 6 or 7 AM.

Trios instead of pairs should pay 100€ instead of 50 and be suitably mocked.

I don't think I've ever had rhythms, circadian or otherwise, that signal I should wake up at 6 or 7am.
