Is it true that the Youth tournaments of next year (under-25, under-21 and mind sports games) will be held in China again?

I thought I saw a thing about Japan, in the daily bulletin at the Bermuda Bowl.

That was for the APBF Congress.

As far as I know the venue and dates for the 2012 World Youth Teams Championships are still to be determined and I've heard rumours of several potential countries, including China, since Cuba fell through.

I believe there will an official announcement from the WBF during the course of the Bermuda Bowl.

What about the Mind Sports Olympiad? What's wrong with London?

IMSA (International Mind Sports Association) has not been able to find a site in England for the 2012 MindSports Games. See page 24 (last page) of Daily Bulletin from Veldhoven. The World Junior Championship for 2012 will be separate from the MindSports Games or Bridge Olympiad, and will be held in China. There will be three events: Patino Cup (players under 26), Damiani Cup (under 21), and Rona Cup (women under 26). The Under 28 event that was held at the MindSports Games in 2008 was a one time event and apparently will not be held again.
Jan Martel, who should probably state that she is not speaking on behalf of the USBF, the ACBL, the WBF Systems Committee, or any member of any Systems Committee or Laws Commission.

Whilst China seems to be getting a disproportionate share of WBF events in recent times, the fact is that they run bridge events very well, have excellent infrastructure, government support, great local hospitality for things like airport transfers, affordable accommodation, inexpensive meals and relatively cheap flights from most part of the world (<US$1,000 from pretty much anywhere in Europe). I hope I get to go.
