Hello All

Thought I would like to ask the advanced/ expert players how they would have competed for the following 2 hands from recent SBU Simultaneous Pairs event ...

board3
e/w game
dealer s

S! AKQ
H! AKJ9
D! AQ82
C! 76

South
S! 8
H! 87642
D! 957

S! J1042
H! Q1053
D! J4
C! AQ10

West
S! 97653
H!
D! K1063
C! KJ95

Bidding .... 2c P 2d p 2h ...p p p 9 tricks made.
Strange looks and non - verbal tuts prevailed at the table as well as perhaps a little bit of smug looks, but I merely said to them .."Trust your partner" but secretly I too was a little bit surprised at the lack of adventure shown .. but then was glad of her sensitivity to the situation.

The other board was also interesting ...

Board 12

C! 43

South

the outcome 12 tricks for nice 1050 .... but I belive we go away lightly and advanced / expert opps would have sacraficed in 6s.

We would bid the first one
2C 2D
2N 3D
4H
You can only make it on a D lead and a misdefence - failure to overtake the C, and even then it is somewhat double dummy. Tough, I've been down before!

The way I play these days:

Hand 1:
2(1) - 2NT(2)
3(3) - 3(4)
4(5) - 4

(1) 0-5 any (since we're NV) OR semiGF any suit OR NT 22-23
(2) 20+HCP
(3) xfer
(4) support in , max HCP in
(5) retransfer

Hand 2:
2(1) - pass - 4(2) - 4
5 - ?...?

(1) weak in (since we're V) OR semiGF any suit OR NT 22-23
(2) probably the limit of the hand, so bid it immediatly

Free,

From earlier posts of yours, I thought you played Lorenzo two bids when NV.

That would make the bidding on hand one even easier 2 4.

Yeah, I used to play Lorenzo's, but with another partner. We had some major problems and now we don't play together anymore.

But with my new partner, I might soon play MOSCITO B) - and perhaps even with Lorenzo two's :D :D

And right you are, with Lorenzo two's this would be a VERY easy bidding, but 'wrongsided'.
