I think this is quite hard. If the K10x were in a major I'd lead that, but clubs is the side-suit where RHO is most likely to have length. Eventually that swung me in favour of a major, but even then it's not clear whether it's better to lead a slightly more attacking heart or a slightly more passive spade.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Partner must be prepared for Spades, unless he
has Semi-Solid hearts and intended 4H over my 3S.

I'm always paranoid about hitting dummy's 5 solid opposite declarer's void/singleton, so put me down for a ♣...hopefully we're playing 3/5 leads.

Given that opener has mediocre trumps, there's a good chance he has an honor on the side in which case breaking either hearts or clubs could be disastrous. I'm leading a spade which is least likely to cause damage.

I have so few HCP partner is probably not on a bare minimum ... and I have 2-3 trump tricks ... so I don't feel like I need to attack vigorously.
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it then how bad a decision could it really be?

He led a low heart which was not successful. A club is the easiest way to beat it. It was in the Baze Senior Teams Final (last set board 62). He was partnering Hamman at the time.

Rare case of agreement. Leading from strength has almost never worked badly for me here with weakness on right.

I've looked at a lot of Meckwell hands - philosophy seems to be passive versus suits, 4th highest v NTs with almost no major suit bias. I strongly suspect that the thinking against most opponents is just to match the other room on opening lead, then defend better, rather than win it on the OL. In other words, reduce variance at the expense of a small loss in win rate.
