Your call?

If you double, and partner bids a minor, do you bid 4?

Double then 4. That shows this type of hand - five hearts, but not good enough to insist on them as a trump suit, and willing for partner to convert to 5m.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I'm really not thrilled about it with a void in spades, partner is gonna pass too often imo (depends on style ofc). I would probably just bid 4H (or 4D showing hearts, whatever my methods are). If partner is a big non passer here then I like double.

I deeply hate to double 2S with a void playing normal style, so it does not cross my mind to do it at the 3 level. But yes I would correct to 4H to show 5H+4om

Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I would DBL and then bid 4 as Andy said.

Specifically for the 3 bid, not anything else at the 3-level: consider foregoing the infrequent case where we feel we must absolutely bid 3NT to play ---allowing Double with a T/O hand more flexible than this one (Partner can take it out or leave it in), and 3NT to be a serious takeout like the OP hand.

I bet that the frequency of a hand where I want to bid 3 NT is much higher then a 0544 hand with gamegoing strength...

If you think it's worth agreeing methods for this specific sequence, there are several ways you can do it without having to give up a natural 3NT:

- Play 4 as hearts and 4 as clubs, then use the extra step over 4 to sort out whether the trump suit is good enough.

- Play non-leaping Michaels (or non-leaping Michaels with 4 and 4 swapped).

Yeh, we have the non-leaping Michaels agreement for 4C and 4D. But we still thought it necessary to use the unnatural 3NT for this case (3n, then 4H=your DBL, then 4H) and for the minor one and two-suiters. Maybe we just tried to do too much, but I don't remember losing a better-scoring 3NT by doubling. We can still get to 3NT sometimes.

Dbl for me, but unlike the rest of you, I'm not upset if partner sits. If partner is on a min with good spades, especially a holding like KTxx, who's to say we're making game anywhere?
