Double or 3 spade are close IMO. I can see myself shooting for both depending on scoring.

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."

defensive potential in case p wants to convert my
x
to penalties. 3S sends a chill down my spine with such a cruddy suit
especially when our hand is capable of playing in any of the suits
(including a scary 3hx). I prefer a 4h michaels bid to 3s. At the very
least I wont get stuck in spades unless it is our "best" suit.

*** Because it works on the immediate hand??
Or you just don't think 2-suiter take-outs are useful?

Because of the trend of some to say they play exactly what would work in the given case, when it is doubtful they really do that.
Because in the balancing seat versus 3H, I seriously doubt NLM is a good idea (based on frequency of patterns for balancer).
Because even if NLM is someone's choice, I doubt it also shows an 8-count.

*** And because double works here (NOT into 3H-X=) or are you passing (with 4S on)?
Deny the problems shown in the immediate hand, as you wish,
BUT to suggest 2-suiter take-outs won't work when this hand suggests that very agreement wins is head-in-the-sand.

Interesting. I have the agreement to have NLM *off* in the balancing seat to allow us to balance more often (hand with shortness in the preemptor's suit and a long minor suit being, in my experience, more frequent than the 5-5 hand) but I'm now thinking I might be off base? What logic is your thought based on?

One of these for me - depending on mood, I guess. Double seems too likely to end the auction.
