does anyone know an appropriate response and continuation structure for this? i think madala and bocchi used to play it.
i know their structure over 2c 18-19 which is good but it won't work with the strong possibilities. i could handle a modest loss of accuracy on the strong hands, but don't want to just give up entirely.

There is a thread on the forums about the whole system. They play transfers over 2♣. Search Bocchi The title of the post is Big Bang.

I made up a structure a while ago, don't know how good it is compared to others but it might give you some ideas: http://snortingmarad...clubs18_19.html
I haven't tried this one myself, but it felt pretty good when I wrote it I translated the notes from Swedish, so I might have missed something.

The Welland-Auken trick,
2♣(18-19 bal. or GF)-?:
2♦ = 5+ H or waiting
...2♥ = Kokish: 18-19 bal. / 5+ H, GF
......P = WK, 5+ H (assumes Opener has 18-19 bal.!)
......(...)
...2♠+ = same as 2♠+ over 2♣-2♦ in standard
2♥ = 5+ S
...2♠ = 18-19 bal.
...(...)
(...),
here with 18-19 bal. instead of 20-21 bal. (as in their system), is also worth mentioning.

I proposed this with one partner, and we agreed:
2C FG or 18-19 BaL
To open 2C a player will normally have at least 18 HCP. If unbalanced will be within 1 trick of game-going strength.
In response :
2D waiting bid – may include a positive response
2H Weak with H – to play opposite 18-19 balanced. If opener continues 3H= inv with 18-19 and 4 card support all other sequences are GF
2S Weak with S – to play opposite 18-19 balanced. If opener continues 3S= inv with 18-19 and 4 card support all other sequences are GF
2N 5+ C, GF – at least a mild slam try opposite 18-19 balanced. Opener always completes the transfer with 18-19 balanced then continuations as 1N-2S-3C. If opener bids 4C that is RKCB clubs.
3C 5+ D GF – at least a mild slam try opposite 18-19 balanced. Opener always competes the transfer with 18-19 balanced then continuations as 1N-2N-3D. If opener bids 4D that is RKCB diamonds.
3D single-suited 6+H GF – at least a mild slam try opposite 18-19 balanced. Opener bids 3H or 4H with 18-19 balanced (3H stronger) then new suits over 3H cues 3S short suit slam try 3N spade cue bid.
3H single-suited 6+S GF – at least a mild slam try opposite 18-19 balanced. Opener bids 3S or 4S with 18-19 balanced (3S stronger) then new suits over 3S cues 3N short suit slam try
Breaking transfers shows a suit of opener’s own.
2C-2D
2H H or 18-19 balanced
2S then relay after which 2N 18-19+ balanced. Other bids incl. 3N show H
2N to play in 3C opposite 18-19 balanced
3C to play in 3D opposite 18-19 balanced
3D 6+H GF but no slam interest over 18-19 balanced
3H 6+ S GF but no slam interest over 18-19 balanced
2N 25+ balanced GF
Continuations after 2C-2D-2N and 2C-2D-2H-2S-2N as per 2N opener. If responder subsequently raises 3N to 4N that asks partner to bid slam if 27+.
3C natural
Then 3D is a relay
(Opener bids 3H,3S (4 card suit) 3N (NF no major) or 4C
responder can then bid 3S F with 4 over 3H, raise the major, bid 3N, bid 4C as a slam try in clubs or 4D as a slam try in the major.).
3N is non-forcing with single suited D
(with a stronger hand with diamonds would have bid 3C over 2C)
3D Diamonds denies a 4 card major
3H/S show that suit and longer D
3N suitable hand for NT with long minor
4C/4D RKCB in suit
4H/S Fast arrival
If opener bids a suit at the 3 level e.g. 2C-2D-2H-2S-3H then new suits at the 3 level (3S) are natural and F whereas new suits at the 4 level (4C/4D) are cues for hearts.
Intervention over 2C
All passes are forcing. The first double by responder shows 0-4 (pass 5+). The first double below game by either player (not counting the double showing 0-4) will be take-out. Subsequent doubles, or doubles above game, will be penalties.
If 2C is doubled xx shows 0-4 and bids 5+
After 2C pass 2D X (showing D) xx shows a balanced hand with 4 good D. pass is any 18-19 balanced or 25+ bal without a D stop (then 2H is to play and other bids mean the same as after 2C-2D-2H). 2NT is 25-26 balanced with a stop . 2H shows H.
If oppo double 2S after 2C-2D-2H-2S XX similarly shows a balanced hand with 4 good spades. 2N is 18-19 balanced with a spade stop. Pass is 18-19 balanced with no stop then bids are as if opener bid 2N (with 2N to play). Other bids show H.
It may duplicate or be worse than other stuff you find.
