An unlikely (for me) slam bid in a bot tourney (MPs)
Sadly I didn't find the play

I appreciate it was a very questionnable slam, questionnably bid so please be kind :)

Sorry King of diamonds was led

I played perfectly(?) until the last 5 or so cards

I will give an initial clue - you have to lose to the Queen of spades - at least I did and couldn't find the extra necessary trick

If anyone spots the play and it is not beginner level please be kind :) - I am curious what it is called - there may of course be multiple ways to play it

By way of reassurance the one player who bid and made 100% was an Expert - and also gave up one trick to the Queen :)

Ruff the K, AK do they stand up ? If so, what happens when I play the Q ?

Yes, a interesting hand to post. I know how I would play it but not sure it is the right way either. Will have another look later in the day.

Do you play a 1H overcall as forcing?

OP asked us to be kind about the bidding B-)

I will be too, although I'm no fan of 1 or 4NT and I don't understand why we were not interested in K even after denial of Q.

It's late and I am probably missing something after a hard day, but it looks to me as if the key to the hand is that the only trump you can lose is the Q and that East is likely 1=4=3=5 or close.
So just play your game and overruff West when necessary or discard when he ruffs with Q.
Start A, K, 5 ruffed, T ruffed, Q, A, ruff, ruff u.s.w.

Sorry trying to check peoples questions

The AKQ of clubs will all play ok
Jack still out there. I guess each point could matter

I didn't think about asking for Kings

Sorry 1 heart is just a regular non forcing overall :) I couldn't see another bid

And 1 spade promised 5 spades as you would hope

To me I thought there was an obvious play and finesse but I found it harder than that. And I missed a likely very obvious play

If it's a bot tourney, can you trust opps carding ? if so who do you think has 4 clubs ? E appears to be 3334 or 3433, the key is to ruff whichever suit he has a 4th card in so pitch a diamond on the second club, a heart on the third, ace of hearts and ruff a heart low, ruff a diamond, ruff a heart, ruff a diamond (unless AK came down doubleton which I suppose could happen) and now you just have to choose whether to ruff a heart or a club. Actually if the ruff of the third heart stood up, you know the heart break.

Here it is

This was the top who was the only player to bid and make

I missed the obvious combination of a squeeze with the finesses and Queen of diamonds at the end. Simple when I saw it

Actually this player played it differently. I needed the squeeze finesse at the end

Others managed 12 tricks too - I discarded badly on the last club instead of ruffing and playing back from North - maybe playing upside down doesn't help - silly mistake all the same

Just by way of curiosity

With the Queen or King of hearts would anyone have considered grand :)

I thought, I am missing the Queen but it could still make 6 - you know where all the cards are :)
