A common scenario is waiting for a tournament to start; another is waiting for the next round or hand of a tournament to start. Why not use push notifications for this? I would like it, it's opt-in, and fewer players would fail to show up when needed.

On a related note, when playing in some clocked tournaments, the site seems to log you out if the BBO browser tab is hidden. Again, how about not doing this and using notifications.

And on the mobile app version (at least on iOS), it would seem entirely possible to avoid logging the user out when the app is minimized.

How about not posting the same topic 5 times so people can't follow recent posts easily?

It was certainly not intentional -- the submit button did not seem to be working. The forums software should disallow this, and there should also be a way for me to delete those dupe posts.

I have reported the dupes - and you could, too.

You or I can't delete our OPs; but a report (that makes it clear there's nothing offensive et al. about it, just a dupe) gets to the admins, who can.

This (and the reports; I've done it on much more experienced poster's dupes, too) is not an opinion on you. It happens, sometimes, and we get it to the people who can clean it up.

I already deleted the dupes earlier, but missed one of them until just now.

So, does anyone have an opinion about Push Notifications -- or only about Posting Norms? ; )

Push notifications to an admin whenever a duplicate thread is accidentally created would seem a good idea ;)

More seriously, yes they sound like a good idea for when a tournament is about to start.

The problem of being kicked out when the browser tab is not current has been raised before, with only evasive responses about this being a browser not BBO problem. If you are on Chrome, do be aware that the default behaviour is now to suppress background activity by non-current tabs: but specifying BBO as an exception did not resolve the problem for me.
