whereagles I know that stoppers are completely useless, but what suit do you think they will lead here? :( how will the play go?

Well, I know you're right but what can I bid? I've already lied in a card with 2♦. Ain't gonna lie a second time by bidding spades with 3 only B) I guess you could say I should have passed 2♣ but I didn't.

But there's one thing going for the 2NT bid: unless LHO has ♥AKQJT (with which he could have bid 2♥), it's likely there's some sort of blockage in the heart suit.

Pass again over 2♠. Penalty doubling would be very random.

North ♥HHHH6

and we have 3NT making thanks to ♥7.
That would be fun, but actually playing for it pretty crazy. :)

I'd have to say that if I did bid 2♦, I would at least retreat to 3♣.

Well, circumstances make quite a difference. In the other thread I put overcaller with as little as 7 hcp because some people bid on lousy hands.

In my book overcalls normally range from 8 to 17, so this ranks as a "good min". Not sure I'd accept and bid 3NT. Especially since responder steered away from clubs and my suit isn't that hot without some fillers. But yeah, bidding 3NT certainly wouldn't be too far-fetched.

AKJ986 is now a "not hot suit that needs fillers"? I guess you and I have very different definitions of that, I would expect to bring this home for 1 loser opposite a singleton the majority of the time.
