Definitely - especially as the time of the single answer poll seems to have arrived!

No - I tend to the positiion it has been more interesting - at least potential to be so.

To me all the bidding sequences makes no sense at all and I have always wondered why persons with intellectual capacity find any meaning of such.

I am disappointed of the water cooler - as most topics there too seems of very little meaning.

A few topics are of interest. Those which are able to reveal a bit of differences between cultures and general knowledge of people based on different sources of information.

It is very interesting to see who are very active in posting in BBO Forum in general but have no posts at all in important topics in Water Cooler.

I voted and am delighted (as a conformist) that I share the same opinion as all others who have voted so far.

btw, is the option YESNOYES intended for people like me who can't make up their minds?

lol@nick

I also voted 'yesnoyes', and while this may come as a surprise, I stand by it. I'm Piscean.

The question seems a trifle vague, especially given the complexity of the poll.

As Claus mentioned it, I'll say that while The Water-Cooler is a good concept for putting non-bridge discussion in a different basket to the bridge threads, I don't really like much of what I see there.

Some threads in WC are amusing, however some content is misplaced. I quite enjoy reading political/historical/moral/religious commentary, and thereasre some very astute minds contributing interesting material to the BBO forums on such matters...but to me this is not the correct arena for it to get serious.

I have great respect for the fact that BBO has been very open-minded in regard to it's censorship of the boards as a whole, and in general I think it makes forums.bridgebase.com a fascinating place.

If you think the forums have 'gone downhill', restrict your participation in them to those areas you do like.

and VOTE YESNOYES

Well, I don't think the quality of the main forums has gone down at all since the introduction of the water cooler.

And some of the posts here are somewhat interesting. Admittedly, a lot of them I don't pay attention to, such as anything about Iraq or the USA's position in the world.

So I certainly see no reason to get rid of it.

Were some of those votes for "yes" really votes for "yesnoyes"?

When I voted there were only one option: yesnoyes

Those 4 which were there as I voted have now all been converted to YES. So the result of the poll is now a bit biased. Now I would vote NO

i think the results are scewered because of the earlier glitch, but i could be wrong... no, i don't think the forums have gone downhill... the water cooler is like any other sub-forum, a person can read/post or not

I regret that I vaste so much time in the water cooler instead of discussing bridge. On the other hand, the water cooler may primarily be intended to divert off-topic stuff from other forums and I think it works reasonable in that respect.

Since the original question, asked 5 years ago, seems to be about the effect that the creation of the Water Cooler had on the Forums as a whole, I don't think you'd be able to find 96 people qualified to vote.
