and here we are.
note the h stopper. If I bid 3c over 2nt is weak and passable in my experience with GIBBO.

I cant bid 3c over 2H 'cos that is 17-18 or something like that. perhaps i do have 17-18 with the stiff heart. that might be the error here.

Unfortunately,

1-(P)-1N-(2); X = "5+ ; 15-21 HCP; biddable ; 22- total points",

which is totally unplayable.

Has a human come up with that explanation or is it somehow auto-generated?

i worry about the humans who envisaged the bidding software. minimally, it feels like was not tested enough

It's not unplayable. It's a penalty double. Not uncommon after a NT bid. If partner has this hand you will kill 2.Takeout is more flexible. Plus Gib would pull the penalty when it's right and leave it when it's wrong!

The problem is Gib bid 2N without a stopper. Probably because the 3-bids are defined as weak and Gib has the points to invite.

Maybe a double Gib should be defined as takeout and is also defined as penalty.

No problem with the stopper that East shows. It's a likely 7th round stopper by my calculations.

1-(P)-1N-(2); P-(P)-?:

P = "No suitable call --- 3- ; 6+ HCP; 11- total points"
X = "1- ; 10+ HCP; biddable ; 12- total points"
2 = "2-3 ; 6+ HCP; 11- total points"
2N = "Invitational to 3NT game --- 3- ; 12+ HCP; 12- total points; stop in "
3 = "6+ ; 2- ; 9-11 total points"
3 = "6+ ; 2- ; 9-11 total points"
3 = "3- ; 9-12 total points"
3 = "Limit major raise --- 3 ; 10-12 total points"
3N = "5- ; 3- ; 12+ HCP; 12- total points; likely stop in "
(...)

Pick your poison.

thanks nullve. choice of poisons is fascinating. am more sympathetic of the 2 nt. hearts have not been supported, partner passed over 2H thus QED.
Next time I bid 3C and get into more trouble.....
