3 because I am downgrading because of the looming unplayability of this hand. Anyway 1m-(2M)-3m is a little stronger than 1H-(2S)-3H.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I pass hoping partner will double and get some 300.

Trying for a penalty is dangerous. If RHO has 6H, P will have at least 4C

and will happily reopen with
Axxx -- Axxx AKxxx
Axxx x Axxx Axxx

and while you might beat 2H, you might be better off in a game/slam in clubs. So I think this hand needs to raise clubs ( no strong feelings about LR vs GF ) .

I gotta say it's true that passing for penalties might be dangerous. The main issue is the 5-card club suit, for we have that known fit which might be a dangerous asset in a heart contract. So I guess it's eithar pass or 3 at teams.

:) 3 unless we open really light hands. A favorite for slam opposite pard's minimum:
Axxx
x
Axx
A10xxx

A 5 game should have some play opposite most hands, and who says 3 forces beyond 4 if pard is really wretched? Of course, 3 is a reasonably close second for me.

3NT. Have the H-stop and supporting quacks/stops. Warn partner of some H-values when he has a shapely 6C try.

Whatever your inv+ club raise is, use it. Normal is 3 .

People play 3C as a limit raise?
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

Depends on what my partner wants ;) I can play both ways. But I bet over half would bid 3 with competitive hand and with this invitational hand.

thanks for reply, as most experts picked 3C.

i jump 4C to invite at table; the drawback is bypass 3N, however i argue that possible 5-5 club fit and both heart and spade singleton argues for suit contract.
is it valid point or the value is too soft, which is still better for NT contract ?

this is whole hand

.
AQJX
X
AXX
AKXXX
.

K
K8XXX
QX
QJ10XX

;
;
1C (2H) ??

1) 2N, then both have to try hard to find club fit.
1C (2H) 2N
3S 4C here 4C only promise 3 club as i understand.
4D 4S (don't cue H)
6C
not easy for me to reach 6C

2) 3C, as long as south cuebid S, 6C is possible
1C (2H) 3C
3D 3S
..
6C

3) PASS, it won't lead to good result when 9-10 club fit.
(unless vulerability changes)

1C (2H) P
X ?? touch choice now, pass again ?

..

only my 2 cents, feel free to comment, thanks.

2N ... 3N is more likely than 5. Opps have a fit AND my spots suck so trapping is out.

I voted 2N. 3 seems like another good bid, I guess I'm worried it might put partner into a weird situation where he decides to pass which I really don't want to see. pass seems pretty ludicrous and 3 seems to completely rule out 3NT which seems like a bad idea imo. Who said partner can't have something like AQxx x Jxx AKxxx. 5 clubs will be very unhappy whereas 3NT will be great.
